His dissertation, "Laser scribed graphene: fabrication and electrochemical biosensors for neurotransmitters," was awarded the University of Auckland Outstanding Doctoral Thesis (Dean's Honour List), making him the first Chinese international student to receive this honor in the 21st century.
His research focuses on brain-inspired cognitive systems and robotic cognitive intelligence, with pioneering contributions in embodied AI large models and dexterous robotic manipulation. He explores multimodal perception-decision-control integrated architectures, merging biologically inspired cognitive mechanisms with robotic autonomous intelligence to advance brain-computer interfaces (BCI), intelligent decision-making, and dexterous manipulation. He has published 14 papers in top-tier journals (Advanced Science, Biosensors and Bioelectronics, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Carbon, Applied Materials Today, Device), including 6 first-authored papers with 700+ citations. Among these, 6 are first-authored papers in CAS Q1 Top Journals, and 1 is an ESI Highly Cited Paper (with a single paper cited 320+ times since 2018). He holds 2 authorized national patents.
He has received prestigious scholarships, including the New Zealand MBIE Scholarship, University of Auckland Scholarship, and Polymer Electronics Research Centre Scholarship, and participated in 2 NZ national research projects. In China, he has led projects such as the NSFC Youth Program, Beijing Natural Science Foundation General Program, and Shanghai Brain-Computer Interface Innovation Project, while contributing to the China Brain Initiative and other national key R&D programs.
As an active reviewer for Nature Communications and Nano Energy, he serves as Associate Editor for the Advanced Intelligent Systems Smart Materials Special Issue and Young Editorial Board Member of Brain Apparatus Communication: A Journal of Bacomics.

Our group investigates human brain-inspired multimodal information processing mechanisms, transferring their core principles to robotic cognitive systems. By integrating neuroscience and machine learning, we focus on:
Brain-inspired multimodal perception fusion architectures
Cross-modal representation transfer learning algorithms
Brain-machine interactive decision-making in embodied intelligence
The goal is to develop a next-generation "machine brain" capable of autonomous dexterous manipulation, overcoming current limitations in environmental understanding and adaptive control. Our interdisciplinary research spans:
BCI decoding
Embodied AI computational models
Multimodal perception-decision fusion
We aim to pioneer human-like intelligent operating systems, "giving machines a mind."
With a strategic, cutting-edge, and international vision, we cultivate "patriotic, globally minded" young scholars. Our collaborators include:
Tsinghua CS, Auckland Uni Robotics, Cambridge Neuroscience, NUS Embodied AI Lab
Osaka Uni Intelligent Science, HKU Autonomous Decision Lab, Peking Uni ISC
Tianjin Uni Biomedical Eng, Tsinghua Materials, Beihang Robotics, Oxford Neuro-Social Computing
