Personal Profile

Zhang Lanshan, a member of the Jiusan Society, is a professor at the School of Information and Media, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, a master's advisor in Journalism and Communication, and a doctoral supervisor in Computer Science and Technology. She has been a visiting scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. She serves as a director of the Internet Audio-Visual Committee of the China University Film and TV Association, an executive member of the CCF Internet Society, a member of the Intelligent Information Network Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and the director of the New Media and Creativity Center at the Beijing Key Laboratory of Network Systems and Network Culture at BUPT. She was selected for the "Double Thousand Plan," a talent exchange program between universities and news organizations, jointly initiated by the Ministry of Education and the Central Propaganda Department.

She completed her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in Radio and Television Art (a top-tier discipline) at Communication University of China. From 2004 to 2009, she worked at Beijing Television Station as a director and chief editor, producing over 100 television programs in five years. She founded the Douyin account "Prof.Lanshan" for short video creativity and production in 2022, which has since garnered millions of views and tens of thousands of likes. Several of her videos have been reposted by the Learning Strong Nation platform of the Central Propaganda Department, forming a special Strong Nation series, achieving over 300,000 views and tens of thousands of likes, and have been reported by People's Daily Online.

She has led two projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and four provincial and ministerial-level projects. She has published nearly 40 first-author SCI papers and CSSCI papers at top-tier venues including the ACM Multimedia conference (a CCF A-category conference), the IEEE Network (a top-tier SCI journal), and Modern Communication, and has authored two monographs and one textbook. Her "Research Report on Aesthetic Evaluation Indicators for Television Programs" has been adopted by the Editorial Office of China Central Television.

She has won the second prize in the Beijing division of the second National University Micro-Lecture Competition (provincial/ministerial level), the second prize for Excellent Teaching Cases in the National Journalism and Communication Professional Degree in 2020 (provincial/ministerial level), and the second prize for national awards for her short video works. The textbook "Short Video Creativity and Production" she edited won the second prize from the China University Film and TV Association (Professional Textbook Category). She has received the second prize in the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications Teaching Observation Competition, and has been recognized as an outstanding master's thesis advisor at BUPT. In 2020, she was named "Outstanding Graduate Mentor" and awarded the "Zhou Jiongpan Outstanding Young Teacher Inspirational Prize" at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The micro-films she advised students on have won first prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels, and have been shortlisted for the "Charming China" section at the Cannes Film Festival. She has served as a judge for the National University Advertising Competition in Beijing, an expert in the preparatory group for the "5G + Integrated Media" application pilot by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and a final judge for the "Guanghua Cup" Integrated Media Special Competition by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
