Research Group

    Name of Research Group:Advanced Network Technology Laboratory, ANT

    Description of Research Group:The Advanced Network Technology (ANT) Laboratory of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was founded by the pioneer and founder in the field of communication and information in China, Jiongpan Zhou academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor Huimin Zhang. It relies on the national key discipline of signal and information processing, and the Key Laboratory of Universal Wireless Communications of the Ministry of Education, and is responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the School of Information and Communication Engineering.

    Research interests of ANT laboratory include Internet of Vehicles and Mobile Internet, intelligent processing and optimization of wireless communications, deep learning and data mining in the mobile Internet ecosystem, VR and AR mobile video transmission services, and ultra-wideband bio-radar imaging and vital signal detection.
    1. Internet of Vehicles and Mobile Internet
    The Internet of vehicles refers to the mobile communication system that realizes the mutual communication between vehicles and networks to achieve the intelligent and safe driving. It mainly studies communication transmission in vehicle network, perception fusion based on deep learning, and information security and privacy protection. The mobile Internet is anytime and anywhere, inheriting the advantages of sharing, openness and interaction, and becomes a new platform for scientific research and development. ANT laboratory conducts system development and verification on network protocol of mobile Internet, audio and video coding and decoding, location services and augmented reality.
    Examples of completed/in-progress projects:
    (1) Research on information security protection methods for intelligent electric vehicle communication networks;
    (2) R&D and demonstration application of collaborative interconnected cloud platform for intelligent network driving.

    2. Intelligent Processing and Optimization of Wireless Communication
    In order to cope with the explosive growth of mobile data traffic, massive device connections, and emerging new services and application scenarios, the mobile communication systems continue to evolve. Based on the research foundation of the original mobile communication field, ANT laboratory carries out the research on key technologies of future mobile communication systems, including "Future wireless network optimization framework and technology based on data analysis and machine learning", "Future network modeling and performance analysis" "Baseband signal processing and low-cost receiver design for massive MIMO", "High-precision cooperative localization based on IoT", "Intelligent processing for electromagnetic data ".
    Examples of completed/in-progress projects:
    (1) National Science and Technology Major Project “Evaluation and Verification of 5G International Standard Candidate Program”;
    (2) National Natural Science Foundation of China Project“Study on Key Technologies of Millimeter Wave Massive Pure Phase MIMO Signal Processing”;
    (3) “Study on Energy Efficiency Optimization Theory and Technology for Ultra-Dense Networks Based on Three-Dimensional Random Geometry”.

    3. Deep Learning and Data Mining in the Mobile Internet Ecosystem
    The network has become a complete and independent living space. It is of great significance to study the characteristics, groups and behavior patterns of network personality and their connections and differences with real personality. Through the analysis and extraction of continuous network access records and other data, data features and pattern rules with significant symbols and distinctions are obtained. Based on this, a research system for network personality and behavior is established, which is called network data fingerprint.
    Examples of completed/in-progress projects:
    (1) National Natural Science Foundation of China-General Program: Research on Internet Traffic Identification Methods Based on Complex Network Structure and Correlation;
    (2) National Natural Science Foundation of China-Youth Fund Project: Mobile User Behavior Prediction Based on Large-Scale DPI Data and Coupled Tensor Model;
    (3) China Telecom: Research on Tagging Mining Algorithm and DMP Prototype Design Based on Fixed-Line DPI Data;
    (4) Beijing Mobile: Sima Big Data Products Partner.

    4.VR and AR Mobile Video Transmission Services
    VR, or virtual reality, is a simulation system constructed by computer vision and processing technology, which can create and experience virtual world of three-dimensional space. AR is augmented reality, which superimposes virtual information to the real world, where virtual and real environments exist simultaneously and interact with each other. According to the prediction of authoritative institutions, VR/AR users will reach 95 million in 2020 and 315 million in 2025, with software revenues of $13.1 billion in 2020 and $35 billion in 2025. Demand for VR/AR practitioners will soar in the coming years.
    Examples of completed/in-progress projects:
    (1) Longitudinal basic research project: Research on Mobile Video Broadcast Transmission Method Based on Real Number Representation;
    (2) Crosswise enterprise cooperation project: Research on Transmission Optimization of Real-Time Video in Wireless Networks; Research on VR/AR Wireless Cross-Layer Transmission Optimization Technology.

    5.Ultra-WideBand Bio-Radar Imaging and Vital Signal Detection
    Impulse Radio Ultra-WideBand (IR-UWB) bio-radar has low power consumption, high spatial resolution, and strong penetration, which is not affected by environmental factors such as light, field of vision and temperature. ANT Laboratory uses machine learning to analyze wireless signals and provides non-contact vital signs monitoring for humans. Research contents include moving targets tracking and vital sign monitoring system based on UWB radar network, in-vehicle driver and passenger vital signs monitoring system based on an UWB radar, and vital signs monitoring for multiple moving targets  based on UWB radar.
